The Church or the Church Building?
Dear believer,
How have you been? I’m super excited, I added another year yesterday, and I’m so happy with what God is going to be doing in this new year.
I’d like to start this week’s edition by asking who or what is the Church? Is the Church a combination of blocks and mortar that have been put together to form an architectural edifice? Or is the Church a place people gather to have worship services on a regular basis? Guess what? The Church is neither of these.
Jesus said that he was going to build his Church and that the gates of hell was not to prevail against it. Jesus said this knowing that he was not going to be on the earth physically any more at the time of the Church’s existence. This is indicative of the fact that He was in no way referring to blocks and bricks as the Church. He was referring to something deeper and of more relevance in the scheme of things spiritually. He was referring to MAN and not BLOCKS.
We currently have a situation where edifices and structures have been tagged the Church. The Church is made up of the humans and individuals in it. This is because for every one person that is a believer, there is locked up in that person a quantum of power that is put there by God, and ratified by the blood of Jesus. When people gather like this, there is an unusual flow of power amongst them. The Church begins from where two or three are gathered in HIS NAME says Jesus. So you see, this is why the Church is not a building or an edifice. Jesus makes the investment of His name in the Church.
Do you now realise why it is wrong to say that you’re going to the Church, when you’re referring to the physical location where people meet to worship? You’re not going to the Church, you’re going to the place of Worship. You can only meet with the Church (the body of believers) for worship. We should not bastardize the meaning of what Church is and reduce it to a combination of blocks and mortar.
We’re the Church, not the blocks. No matter how beautiful an edifice is, it is not the Church.
Until next week, stay raptureable 🙏🙏
